Meet Beau â a sweet, serious soul. Beau is a 7-year-old, 65-pound Lab mix with a black and white speckled coat. Heâs been with me since he was about two months old. He was found on the streets and picked up by the Dallas Animal Shelter, and I adopted him from there. Heâs always been a really chill, reserved dog. Heâs not the kind to follow you around the house all day, but heâs usually nearby laying under a desk or in his bed. He likes pets and cuddles, especially when heâs feeling comfy, but heâs very independent and isnât an âin your faceâ kind of guy. Heâs up to date on everythingâshots, preventatives, you name it. The main thing with Beau is his health. He has seasonal allergies that flare up sometimes, and heâs had stomach issues for a few years now. Iâm not totally sure whatâs causing themâcould be food sensitivities, allergies, something else. Right now he eats Stella & Chewyâs food, and it helps, but itâs still a bit of a work in progress. Iâve tried to be really honest about this with anyone interested because I want him to go to someone whoâs willing to help him feel better and not just get frustrated. Heâs low energy most of the time, but still has his playful moments Beau is a social chameleon, he can read the room and adapt to it. When the vibe is chill you can find him lounging around, but if someone gets excited and playful, he does the same. He really lights up around waterâhe loves splashing in a little puddle or kiddie pool. Heâs good with other dogs, good with cats, and good with kids. He has a really gentle temperament overall. I think heâd do best in a home with a yard or with someone who can take him out at least 3 times a day, but more than anything, he just needs someone patient and understanding whoâs down to go on this health journey with him. Heâs crate trained, housebroken, and knows how to sit He walks fine on a leash, though he does pull a little when he gets excited. Heâs not super trained, but heâs well-mannered and sweet. He understands boundariesâheâs not one of those dogs whoâs constantly in your face, but if you give him love, he gives it back in his own quiet way. Why Iâm rehoming him Iâve had Beau for seven years, and I love him so much. But trying to figure out whatâs going on with his stomach has been emotionally draining. For the past few years especially, itâs been a constant source of stress and guiltâfeeling like Iâm not doing enough, not knowing where to start, and just feeling really overwhelmed. I want him to go to someone whoâs not in survival mode the way Iâve been, someone who can focus and really get to the root of his health issues. Beau is such a good boy. He deserves someone whoâs going to love him, take care of him, and help him feel his best. If you think you could be that person, apply to adopt Beau today. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * If you have a specific question about Beau, then please email newdigs@dallaspetsalive.org.
