My name is Birdie and I am looking for a forever home.   I was found roaming by myself by a nice lady who, after she couldn't find my owner and couldn't keep me, reached out to a small local rescue as she didn't want to take me to the pound.  A volunteer with that rescue contacted BCAA to see if they could help and they said yes!  I appear to be possibly a border collie/lab mix, and at a little over 22lbs at 2years old I am not expected to get any bigger.  I got my name from the lady who found me as she saw I was eating bird seed as I was so hungry.  I'm a little shy when first meeting new people but it doesn't take me long to learn that you're not going to hurt me and then I love getting attention (treats help).  I have gotten along with the other dogs I've met and enjoy playing; I've also not bothered those things called cats.  I've done pretty good in my crate without any accidents or messing up my bedding, but I prefer to be out with you and may let you know not to forget about me if I see or hear you.  I probably have never had a leash in before coming into foster as I'm kind of scared of being on one (I am learning from my foster mom that maybe it's not a bad thing) but I think I'd like to have a fenced yard where i can run around playing and take care of my business.   If you would like to meet me, please fill out an application which can be found at www.bcaaofnj.org.
