Location: Glenville, NYDOB: 11/1/2020 (ESTIMATE)Who says you can only have one love language? Bruno speaks all five…with fluency.Words of Affirmation: Bruno loves to hear what a good boy he is and is quickly learning that “yes” means he’s done something good, like sitting when asked or not pulling on the leash during walks.Receiving Gifts: Bruno loves when words of affirmation are followed by a piece of cheese or chicken. Just watch your fingers, as he’s still learning how to take treats gently. Got a plush toy to chew or a giant rubber ball to chase? Bruno thinks these are THE BOMB, especially the ones that squeak. He’ll thank you by making music with them for hours.Acts of Service: Whenever you move, Bruno knows you might need assistance. He’s happy to follow you everywhere, just in case, and if nothing else, to provide moral support. Especially when you go to the bathroom—Bruno doesn’t think anyone should do that alone!Physical Touch: This is Bruno’s favorite. Making breakfast in the morning? Bruno’s by your side, doing the classic Dane lean to hold you steady because he knows how tired you are. Working from home? He’ll diligently remind you to take a break by asking for head scratches. As a bonus, he’ll also climb into your lap to say hello during video meetings. Bruno sometimes grows impatient when he doesn’t feel loved enough and uses his paws to speak for him, apologizing in advance for any bruises while he learns to restrain himself.Quality Time: Bruno loves people and wants to be with them all the time. He does get anxious when he’s not with you but has worked hard to overcome his fear. In his first foster home, he was a bit destructive when left in a car alone and learned to open doors with handles. In his current foster home, he tried chewing the doorknob when left alone initially and needed moral support going outside. As he’s become more comfortable, he’s learning to be independent—like going to the bathroom on his own. He’s even been left home alone for hours with only a few tissues falling victim to his unease.Things to know if you’re interested in adopting Bruno:Demographics: 4-year-old, 125 lbs., neutered male; housebroken; does not love the crate. Not much is known about Bruno’s background—he was surrendered to a shelter with two other dogs after his family had an emergency and needed to leave the country.Dogs: Yes, please! He loves them all and would benefit from being in a home with another dog(s), especially a confident one.Cats: Bruno has a high prey drive, so a home with cats or other small furry animals is not recommended.Kids: He loves people of all sizes; however, he is a big boy who was not taught many manners. For this reason, he would do best in a home with older children who can handle his size and help with his training.Energy Level: Medium. A few games of fetch or tug, or a walk will help release his energy. Otherwise, in classic Dane fashion, he is a couch potato.Cars: Sure thing! Just don’t leave him alone, as it makes him too nervous.========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .For more information, please email us at rescueme@srgdrr.org.
