LOCATION: Wetumka, OklahomaDOB: 12/09/2021 (Estimate)Meet Buddy, a young black Great Dane with a heart full of hope and a spirit eager to begin a new, brighter chapter. Life hasn't always been kind to him—he’s endured bullying from other dogs in his past home—but through it all, Buddy has remained resilient and full of potential. Now, he's looking for a place where he can finally thrive, surrounded by love, patience, and the respect he so deeply deserves.Buddy wears a few physical reminders of the life he's leaving behind, but they’re merely marks of his strength. His true nature is sweet, goofy, and endearing. He loves car rides and has bursts of playful energy, but more often than not, you'll find him curled up on the couch, content to be your oversized snuggle buddy with just the right amount of lazy charm. While Buddy continues learning the freedom of roaming the house, he still appreciates the structure of a secure kennel when left alone. He doesn’t mind being kenneled, but he has attempted a few escape artist maneuvers. His leash skills are a work in progress—he pulls a bit—but he’s eager to learn and already knows some basic commands like sit and stay, with “lay down” coming along nicely. His toy box is his pride and joy, filled with noisy stuffies he playfully teases others with, tempting them to take one just so he can show off his toy-catching skills.Buddy is not possessive over food or toys. He waits patiently during mealtime and lets his humans know when he needs to go out by walking to his leash or the door. He’s potty trained, communicative, and smart. Bath time may not be his favorite part of the day, but he handles it like a gentleman once he's in the tub. When it comes to people, Buddy does best with slow introductions. He takes his time to trust, but once he feels safe, he’s incredibly affectionate and won’t hesitate to plop his sizable behind into your lap for attention. He hasn’t been around cats, so feline companions are an unknown, and due to his past experiences, a home without children would be best.Buddy dreams of a quiet home with a fenced yard where he can run free and then nap the day away. Though he may bark or growl at dogs passing by, he’s shown little reaction to dogs at the vet, indicating he might just need a calm, controlled environment to build his confidence around other animals. What Buddy needs most is someone who sees past his scars and into his soul. Someone patient, kind, and committed to helping him grow into the joyful, secure dog he's meant to be. In return, Buddy promises a loyal, loving friendship and a heart that will be forever yours. If you're ready to be the person Buddy has been waiting for, he's ready to meet you and begin a beautiful new journey together.========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .For more information, please email us at rescueme@srgdrr.org.
