Animal Profile: Caspian is a 5-year-old, 80lb male Doberman with cropped ears and a docked tail. He grew up in a loving show home here in the PNW, where he titled as an AKC Champion. His family loved him dearly, but unfortunately one of the children in the home had severe behavioral problems and his owner made the choice to surrender him to rescue for his well-being. Caspian is friendly with people, great with other dogs, and is house and crate trained. He was very comfortable with the children in the home, and would be fine as a family pet with an owner with breed experience. He does have strong prey drive towards cats and small animals, and is looking for a home without those furry friends.
Foster Update:
Cas is a sweet, goofy boy who's really starting to come out of his shell and show his charming personality. He greets his favorite people with happy tippy-tappy toes and is always up for a good cuddle—he’ll even plop himself right onto your lap (we’re still not sure how he manages to fit, but he does!).
Cas absolutely loves soft plush toys and is both house- and crate-trained. He’s friendly with everyone he meets and is doing great with his training, including learning to heel nicely on an e-collar. He recently ventured beyond his quiet dead-end road for the first time and handled it like a champ—he even walked past cats, bunnies, and dogs with confidence!
Cas will thrive in a home that can continue helping him build his confidence. He’d do best with someone who has experience with working breeds and understands their unique needs. Due to his temperament and training needs, Cas is not suited for apartment living or first-time dog owners.
If you're looking for a loyal, snuggly companion with a heart of gold and a silly streak, Cas might just be your perfect match!
