What kind of home would be best for me? Even though Castiel is nearly two years old, he has the energy of a puppy and a whole lot of learning ahead of him. He needs a home with active adopters who can commit time and effort to help him gain confidence through socialization and training. Castiel isn’t picky about who adopts him — whether you’re a single person, a couple, or a family, he just needs someone with a loving heart, patience, and the energy to keep up with him and provide the training he needs.
Castiel requires another confident, well-socialized dog in the home — someone he can learn from and buddy up with and model his behavior after. Castiel has never known life without a canine companion. He’s a bit too much for cats at the moment, so a cat-free home would be best.
What is my personality like? Meet Castiel your soon to be best friend! Castiel came to us after his breeder retired. Like many dogs from similar backgrounds, he’s still learning how to navigate the world. He’s currently skittish, unsure on a leash, and fearful of other dogs — but with patience and love, this sweet boy has so much potential.
Castiel knows nothing about being a pet, but he's eager to learn. He does not do well on leash so he will need leash training. He knows no basic commands so he will need to be taught sit, come, down, stay, etc. He is unsocialized and like to jump up and give you hugs. He will need work on this behavior as well. You will teach Castiel everything he knows about being a companion. He can't wait to learn!
Castiel’s boundless energy is matched only by his boundless love of people. He ADORES people - possibly even more than treats! If you can offer Castiel the time, patience, and love he needs, you’ll be rewarded with a loyal and fun-loving companion.
How do I act when I first meet new people? At first, Castiel might take a moment to assess the situation, but once he’s comfortable — it’s game on! He’s incredibly affectionate and loves to engage with people.
Other tips and tidbits: Castiel was born on 6/11/2023.
House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
