One minute, Chula was living the dream—riding in her dad’s truck, snoozing beside his recliner, and sharing the bed with her brother.
Then, everything changed.

Her dad passed away unexpectedly, and for three long days, Chula stood guard beside him, confused and heartbroken. Strangers broke in, and in her fear, Chula did what any loyal dog would—tried to protect the only home she'd ever known. What followed was terrifying: a catchpole, a loud kennel, and separation from her brother, Booger.

Chula's world fell apart. But her journey didn’t end there.

When our team finally brought Chula and Booger to the rescue, they were deeply traumatized. For months, Chula only trusted one person—Pat—who she knew from her previous life. Slowly, she began to open up, and her healing truly began when she was introduced to Chance, another long-time resident who had also faced a tough life. Together, they brought each other back to life.

Now, Chula runs and plays, walks on leash, and enjoys meeting new people—on her own terms. Her friendship with Chance has given her a second chance.

Chula is looking for a quiet, loving home—ideally with Chance, but she would also thrive with another friendly companion dog. She's not suited for homes with small children, cats, or tiny dogs due to her past and her cautious nature.
