LOCATION: McKinney, TexasDOB: 11/23/2017 (Estimate)If you’re looking for a loyal, oversized cuddlebug with a heart as big as his paws, let us introduce you to Cruiser — a 140-pound merle Great Dane with a soul that’s been through a lot but still shines bright. He’s not just a dog; he’s a story of resilience, healing, and unconditional love, and after over two years in rescue, this gentle giant is more than ready to find the forever home he’s been dreaming of.Cruiser’s early life was far from kind. He spent his formative years outside, tethered to a chain, shaded only by a boat, and forgotten by the world. When his foster mom first laid eyes on him back in November 2022, he was just 75 pounds, malnourished, riddled with fleas, heartworms, and intestinal worms. But even in that rough state, Cruiser had one thing to give freely: love. From the moment he stepped paw into his foster home, he exhaled — finally able to rest, trust, and be a dog again.Today, Cruiser is a whole new boy — healthy, happy, and full of Dane-sized devotion. He’s house trained, crate trained, and knows how to enjoy the good life indoors. True to his Velcro Dane nature, he wants to be wherever you are. Couch snuggles? He’s in. Late-night kitchen run? He’s your shadow. Morning walks? His tail will be wagging before you even grab the leash (though he’s still learning not to pull in his excitement — he just really loves adventure!).Cruiser does well when kenneled while you’re away, though he might go shopping for shoes if you forget to put them up — hey, a guy’s gotta entertain himself! He’s also a skilled counter surfer, so your snacks? Hide 'em. But don’t worry — he’s not food aggressive and is more interested in sharing life with you than taking from it.Socially, Cruiser is a bit of a ladies’ man — he does best with female dogs and warms up to new canine friends with slow introductions. Cats, however, are a no-go. But humans? Oh, humans are his absolute favorite. Whether you’re young, old, or somewhere in between, Cruiser wants nothing more than to nuzzle in, steal a kiss, and make you feel like the most important person in the world. His foster mom calls him her “loverboy,” and it couldn’t be more fitting. He’s goofy, gentle, eager to please, and has recently discovered the joy of toys — tennis balls, especially, are his jam. After everything he’s overcome, Cruiser has one simple wish: a home where he can be loved like he’s always deserved. No more waiting. No more wondering. Just soft beds, kind hands, steady routines, and people who see him — truly see him — for the amazing dog he is.Could that be you?Cruiser is ready.
