Gadzooks has been diagnosed with moderate cataracts of both eyes. A cataract is an increase in the opacity of the eye's lens. When a dog develops a cataract, the normally clear lens develops a cloudy or opaque appearance that interferes with the light reaching the retina. Depending on the severity, this interference can significantly impact the dog’s vision In dogs with moderate cataracts, vision impairment is noticeable, and the lens opacity covers about 60% of the total lens area, but the dog may still be able to see some shadows.
Gadzooks is ready to live out his golden years with you !

Foster Feedback 4/15/25:Gadzooks (AKA Zookie) is the sweetest old man around! He’s been with me for a few weeks and has such a gentle and loving personality. Gadzooks is mostly blind, so it took him a bit to get used to the steps but now he is a pro at all the stairs in the house! He also learned my voice and follows me pretty closely around the house. Definitely a little velcro dog!
Zookie seems to have had no training before coming into rescue and is still working on potty and crate training. He is getting better with both, but definitely does not love being in a crate. He will bark for 20-30 minutes when first put in the kennel, but then quiets down and sleeps all day. He is kenneled at night and sleeps quietly after settling.
Zookie is good with dogs, cats, kids and adults. He’s looking for a relaxing retirement home & a comfy lap to snuggle on.
