Howie is an 18 lb,, 5 year old, NEUTERED MALE Chihuahua Mix that came to us from Visalia Animal Services. He's fully vaccinated, microchipped and parasite free.
Howie was shut down at the shelter and scheduled to be euthanized. We couldn't let that happen and we said YES we would take him. We do not know what he endured before he came to us but to him it must have been traumatic. His foster home has been working with him to overcome his fears. He's gone from hiding under the table to searching out love and praise. He's still cautious but he's made great progress. This is what he foster family said about him.
Howie is a happy boy and becoming more confident each day. He's quiet and prefers to be in a comfy bed or with his human. Toys? He's never seen one before. His favorite time is mealtime followed by treats. He's potty trained with no accidents in the home. In a new environment, we ask that you give him a learning curve until he understands where you want him to do his business.
Depending on the environment, he is making progress with leash training. He was clueless wearing a collar or harness the first few weeks. He loves the outdoors basking in the warm sun. He's good around cats and mostly stays to himself. He hasn't been tested with children but we suspect he would be good with older children who know how to be respectful of shy dogs.
All in all, he will make a great companion to someone who will seriously devote their time to addressing his fears and making him feel safe and loved. If you are that person willing to give Howie a wonderful home please email us at beourpet@gmail.com. You can also fill out the application using the link provided. www.beourpet.org/adoptions.php.
