Meet Janie, the shepherd mix! Janie took a walk a little far from home one day and found herself at an elementary school. Despite her sweet behavior around the teachers and trying to befriend the school kids, a school is no place for a puppy to be so she was brought to the Shelter. After the completion of her stray hold, Janie went up for adoption. Staff observed that she is affectionate, playful and overall easy going. She has played with similarly sized dogs at the Shelter successfully. Janie would love a family of her own to teach her life skills and manners such as potty training and leash walking through positive reinforcement based training. If you are looking for a pint sized shepherd mix – come meet Janie today!This dog’s adoption fee is reduced to $70 from May 1st to May 15th as part of “Empty the Shelters”, an adoption event hosted by the Bissell Pet Foundation to help pets across the nation find the loving adoptive homes they deserve.Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
