Meet June! Sheâs a happy-go-lucky 3½-year-old American foxhound/German shepherd mix with a beautiful split face and even more beautiful smile. Every day is her best day ever, and she loves to check in with her humans to make sure theyâre having just as much fun as she is. Weighing in at 60 pounds (although she doesnât look it) sheâs sweet as can be and full of life and love. June has a medium energy level, which means she loves all things playâtug, fetch, wrestling, zooming around the backyard, swimming, sniffing gamesâas well as napping in the sun and spending quiet evenings under the covers. She would do best being the only animal in the household so she can get all the attention from her family! June will charm you with her contagious smile and quirky âyoga posesâ whenever sheâs excited or wants pets. Sheâs incredibly expressive, super intelligent, and communicates her wants and needs well. She learns new commands quickly and loves to please, which has made training a breeze. Sheâs happiest when on walks, meeting new people, and being loved on in any capacity, whether it's belly rubs, kisses, or praise. Her current owner believes she likely came from an abusive or isolated household, which means she needs someone positive, gentle, patient, and encouraging to teach her how to navigate the world with confidence. She needs time to approach new situations, but once comfortable, sheâll quickly make the best of it. She looks to her humans to make sure sheâs safe and responds best to positive encouragement and rewards for good behavior. She loves making others happy, whether thatâs successfully completing a new trick or overcoming a trigger. Sheâll need someone to guide her through encounters with busy streets and loud motors (i.e. motorcycles and diesel trucks), as well as reactive dogs while on a leash. She is free to roam the house while her human is at work, is potty trained, and is not destructive when left alone for long periods. She is not crate-trained and allowed to snooze on the couch or bed in her current householdâa luxury sheâll likely want to carry over to her new home. She loves every human she meets, has experience with children 7+, and her current owner is very confident she could be taught to be gentler with younger children. She is not food-aggressive and shows no signs of resource-guarding around humans, yet is just very eager and excited to play, which might be too much for smaller children. The perfect home for June would be a low-traffic/relatively quiet environment with a backyard to roam and sunbathe. June is so deserving of the perfect furever home. Could it be with you?
