Meet Mabel! This sweet girl was found as a stray after being dumped with her sister. Thankfully, both were in relatively good shape—just a bit underweight and dealing with some worms. Now that they’ve received proper nutrition and all age-appropriate veterinary care, they’re ready to find loving homes of their very own!
Mabel is an affectionate pup who hasn't met a person she doesn't want to snuggle up with. She’s working on her crate training—tossing in a few treats helps! While she’s not fully potty trained yet, that’s perfectly normal for a puppy. Like most young dogs, Mabel thrives on consistency. Puppies follow a pretty predictable schedule: sleep, eat, play, potty—repeat! Be prepared to take her outside first thing in the morning, again shortly after meals (usually 20–30 minutes later), and avoid playtime until she’s done her business. Patience and a good routine will go a long way with this little one.
Mabel is looking for an active family who will include her in their adventures and help her grow into the wonderful dog she’s meant to be. If you think you’re the perfect match, don’t wait—fill out an adoption application today! She can’t wait to meet you.
Please note: Mabel has been diagnosed by a licensed veterinarian with a parasternal heart murmur, graded 4–5 out of 6. The significance of this murmur has not yet been determined and may require further evaluation, such as an echocardiogram or consultation with a veterinary cardiologist, to better understand any long-term health implications.
Mabel is from Texas. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract.

*Rescue puppies are notorious for losing their birth certificates before entering our rescue. We cannot guarantee the breed or size they will be full grown.*
If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.
