Opie is a very dear, intelligent, affectionate and special dog who is in a foster home and looking for his forever family. He was dumped outside their home in Sept 2024 and they have been taking care of him and getting him ready for the next phase in his life.
He will thrive with an experienced family that is home a lot and has lots of time to give him love, exercise, play and training to show him he is safe. A fully fenced in yard with another young, friendly dog would be ideal.
He adores his two young boys (6 and 8 years old). He plays fetch and he loves to play soccer with the boys as a defender. Most of all he just loves to be with you and will lay at your feet. He is treat motivated and quick to learn.
He loves other dogs, he is currently being slowly introduced to the resident 10 year old female rescue, but they do walks together. He is submissive to her when she gives hints he is too much.
Opie has been working with a trainer. He knows basic commands SIT, STAY, MAT, DOWN and PAW and goes to the door and barks to go out to potty. Watch his youtube video that shows how smart he is

He can be reactive to new people and cars and needs a family or person who is willing to continue his training and show him that people are not scary or mean or will abandon him.
Opie is such a wonderful pup, and he deserves the best. His foster family is willing to do several meet and greets and can even coordinate communication between the previous trainer. They are willing to stay involved and will watch Opie when his forever family goes on vacations/out of town.
Opie will be a devoted and adoring pup to the lucky family who gives him his forever home.
