Pierce is a young Great Pyrenees (born approx 9/12/24) who arrived in Minnesota in mid-April with his three siblings. Don’t let his size fool you—this sweet boy is a gentle giant who loves pets, attention, and following the resident dog around like a shadow.
Pierce is quick to warm up to new people and is becoming a bit of a social butterfly—he’s already enjoying brewery patios now that the weather’s warmed up! He walks nicely on leash, though continued training in busier environments will help him polish his skills.
Pierce is potty trained on a consistent schedule and hasn’t had any accidents in his foster home. He sleeps in a kennel both overnight and during the workday. While he may whine for a minute or two if he hears his humans still at home, he settles down quickly.
This affectionate pup is learning basic obedience and has made great strides with threshold manners—he now waits patiently to be released from his kennel, through doors, and at gates. He isn’t especially food or toy motivated, but responds well to praise and affection. As with most Great Pyrenees, Pierce can be a bit independent and stubborn, so continued training will help him thrive.
Outside, you’ll see occasional bursts of puppy energy, but overall, Pierce is a laid-back companion. True to his livestock guardian roots, he likes to keep watch over the neighborhood and may let out a few alert barks when strangers pass by.
Pierce has a thick, beautiful coat that requires regular brushing, which he loves! Grooming time is a favorite bonding activity for him.
If you’re looking for a big dog with an even bigger heart, Pierce might just be your perfect match. Apply today to meet this gentle, loyal boy!
