Printz is a sweet, special boy who needs a special adopter or forever foster. He was one of 10 small dogs who came to Lil Rascals when both of their elderly humans passed away unexpectedly. After losing his home of 10+ years, it took Printz longer than most dogs to adjust to his foster family. Now that he is adjusted, he is showing everyone he has quite a personality!
He lets his people know when they are late with his meals, and he often demands to be cuddled in a lap when his people are near. When he is outside he sometimes gets sassy and barks, but he is usually an easy going guy and gets along with other small dogs who respect his size and age. In his prior home he had a securely fenced backyard. In his foster home he doesn’t have a fenced yard so he walks on a leash. He doesn’t go fast or far, but he does enjoy sniffing around and sitting in the sun.
This tiny boy weighs about 4.5 pounds and is estimated at about 14 years old. He has a heart murmur but he does not require medication at this time. Printz has limited vision in one eye and possibly zero vision in the other eye. He doesn’t have many teeth and eats soft food only. He is not a picky eater but he has his favorites and tends to cherry pick the “good stuff” before circling back to graze on the rest.
Initially Printz did not appear house trained, but now that he has settled in, he has been using an indoor pee pad. He also signals to his people when he needs to go out. He needs continued remediation, but he is doing great with this. Printz wears a bellyband when his foster parents leave for errands, which can be up to 4 hours. He doesn’t need to be crated and will often just sleep in his little bed while his foster parrents are out of the house.
Due to his size and age, Printz needs an adult-only home without a pool and without stairs. A screened-in patio or securely fenced yard would be wonderful. Printz loves being on the sofa with his family for TV time and he will sleep soundly all night with his people. However he cannot be left unattended even for a moment due to risk of falling. Printz’s ideal family will work from home or be retired and want a gentle little friend to warm their laps as well as their hearts.
