Rowdy Rufus may have entered the shelter as a stray, but heâs made it clear heâs ready to find a home where he can truly belong. This gentle, affectionate boy has faced challenges in the shelterâstress and overstimulation have caused some reactive behaviors, including fence-fighting and nippingâbut outside that environment, a different Rufus shines through. On day trips, heâs been calm, friendly, potty trained, and a great passenger in the car (even if he starts out wanting to be a lap dog!). He loves meeting new people, takes treats gently, and is attentive and well-mannered on the leash. Rufus thrives when heâs out in the world, connecting with people and getting a break from the chaos of the kennel.Despite the tough shelter setting, Rufus continues to show signs of growth and resilience. In playgroup, he prefers to stick close to people rather than roughhousing with other dogs, showing his gentle, dainty nature. Rufus is currently undergoing heartworm treatment, but that hasnât stopped him from charming everyone he meetsâfrom radio hosts to office staff. What he needs now is a calm, supportive home that can help him continue to decompress and blossom. If you're looking for a loyal companion who just needs a chance to shine, Rowdy Rufus might be your perfect match.
