Meet Squid – the squishy-faced goofball who’s equal parts zoomies and snuggles!
At just 6 months old and 32 lbs, Squid is a wiggly pibble mix puppy currently living his best life in foster with two adult female dogs. He’s got a wrestle playstyle and absolutely loves roughhousing with the younger resident dog (we’re talking vertical zooms and big bounce energy!). He even tries to coax the senior pup into play with his signature combo of barks, licks, and joyful hopping—it's ridiculously cute.
Squid is medium-high energy, forward and playful, but easily redirected. He’s learning his “brakes” and benefits from structure, vocal cues, and positive reinforcement. He already knows “sit” and is super food-motivated, which makes him a great student for continued training. His foster is working with him on leash manners and helping him navigate the big world outside through structured socialization—and he's making progress every day!
That said, Squid is still an under-socialized pup who can be fearful of strangers, especially unfamiliar men or people moving quickly (think carts or strollers). He’ll need an adopter who can move at his pace, continue using positive training techniques like LAT/BAT, and help build his confidence over time. Once he warms up, though? You’ve got a sweet, cuddly sidekick who loves learning, exploring, and being part of the fun.
Because of his stranger danger and puppy mouthiness, we recommend a home without young children for now. Squid could thrive with a tolerant, playful dog sibling—or would do great as a solo dog with appropriately matched dog friends for playdates.
If you’re ready to invest in a smart, silly pup with so much potential, Squid is ready to meet you (with treats, of course). He may need a little extra time—but trust us, he’s worth it. Click here to learn how to adopt and submit your adoption questionnaire.
