A soulful three-year-old Boxer mix from Saint Petersburg, FL, whose warm black coat with charming white accents wraps around a heart full of love, loyalty, and just the right amount of sunshine.

Sugar is the kind of pup who sees right into your soul—seriously, she’s a master of meaningful eye contact that’ll melt you faster than a Florida summer popsicle! She’s a medium-sized snuggle bug at about 40 pounds, but don’t let her size fool you—she’s 100% lap dog when she’s at home. Whether she’s sunbathing like a queen on the patio, proudly parading her stuffed toys around the house, or curling up beside you for a good nap, Sugar brings a calming, sweet energy wherever she goes.

Now, Sugar is a complex beauty—timid when meeting new people, she simply asks for a little patience. Once she trusts you, though? Oh, she’s all in—loving, affectionate, and full of playful charm! She’s been living in a home with another dog who, sadly, has bitten her multiple times. While Sugar has always been friendly with other dogs (and is an absolute joy at the dog park), she has also defended herself when necessary. After consulting with veterinarians and a behavior specialist, it's clear that what Sugar needs most is a safe and peaceful home where she no longer has to be on guard.

When it comes to home life, Sugar is looking for a peaceful kingdom to call her own—just her and her favorite human(s). While she’s got excellent social skills with other dogs and even cats, being the only pup in the house is where she truly thrives.

She’s fully house-trained, knows her basic commands like sit, stay, and come, and although she hasn’t had formal training, she’s eager to please and learns best with gentle encouragement and positive reinforcement. Sugar has shown a gentle interest in children—she's just still figuring them out, so slow introductions are best.
