Toni came up from Mexico a few months ago and has been settling in. He was a street dog, covered in ticks and hadn't eaten a good meal in a long while. He got checked
out at the vet, got a good bath and some meds, and headed to his foster home. Here is what we now now about him.
He has never met a human he doesn’t like. He loves a good snuggle session and is learning to play with toys. He especially likes ropes and plushies. He gets along fantastically with cats and small dogs. He has spent time out at the farm and doesn’t mind horses, pigs, or chickens. He does great in a crate (as long as he can’t see you.. otherwise he will sing you the song of his people). He’s house trained as long as you put him out once he wakes up from a long sleep. He isn’t great at alerting you about it, but once you know him you’ll know his subtle cues.
Now for his quirks. He's not a fan of bunnies, but prefers the company of smaller dogs
. He has a very sensitive tummy, probably from eating trash on the streets, so he will need slow introductions for any food changes, and all trash cans need to be secured, since he sees them as a food source. He can also be persistent about trying to get to your dinner, and prefers to dine apart from other animals so that he doesn't have to worry about anyone taking his precious food, but will let people handle his food.
Overall, he's a really good snuggler and would love a family to call his own where he can continue to learn that he will always have food, love, and a soft bed.
He's about 3 years old and in Southern/Central California. If he looks like you're perfect match please comment or fill out an app on our website.
